Agenda:
6 pm September 23
Gather for dinner, networking and a presentation about Roles of the CEO at the lovely Cherry Valley Lodge, located just half an hour from Columbus.

8 am September 24
Gather for breakfast and a full day of networking and learning with sessions on:

So many hats, so few heads
CEO-types face challenges around choosing and managing staff, whether those staff number 2 or 20. Roles and responsibilities may be deliberately broad as everyone may wear several hats, some people may work part-time, others may be contract consultants who are rarely in the office. How do you effectively manage the challenges -- around interpersonal dynamics, setting boundaries, balancing the professional and personal, and establishing roles and job descriptions - all while staying nimble and flexible?

The swinging compass needle
As the chief staff person, you're responsible for keeping the foundation moving ahead on a daily basis, implementing board decisions through the many activities and operations of your organization. How do you make time to reflect on the 'big picture' in the midst of day-to-day operations while acknowledging and managing the shifting interests and desires of board and staff? Delineating staff/board relationships and holding everyone accountable for their responsibilities and decisions is critical to foundation effectiveness: how do you maintain it?

The many roles of leaders
Senior staff members - especially in small shops - necessarily play a variety of roles, such as that of bridge builder, administrator, advocate, sounding board and accountability officer. Using GrantCraft's card deck Roles@work, you'll explore which of the 29 most common roles you play, how you weigh them and how you achieve a balance to increase your effectiveness as a leader.
