4:15 – 5:45 “Philanthropy at Its Best” – A Debate with Aaron Dorfman and Sue Santa

If you are planning to attend the debate please register for it seperately.

Philanthropy at Its Best: A Debate with Aaron Dorfman (Executive Director, National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy) and Sue Santa (Senior Vice President, Public Policy, the Philanthropy Roundtable) NCRP’s recent report, “Criteria for Philanthropy At Its Best: Benchmarks to Assess and Enhance Grantmaking Impact,” has triggered national debate regarding how philanthropy is best practiced. In its report, NCRP recommends criteria for giving (such as directing 50 percent of foundation grants to assisting marginalized communities). Many philanthropic leaders argue that any such criteria erode the philanthropic sector’s independence and flexibility – its key tools in promoting innovation and effectiveness. At our annual meeting, GWP members can hear directly from the leading national proponents of both viewpoints, followed by questions and dialogue. After the program, GWP will hold its annual meeting and reception. Please mark your calendars for what promises to be a dynamic exchange.
