At the 2010 Annual Meeting, GWP members heard from Aaron Dorfman (Executive Director, National Committee on Responsive Philanthropy) and Sue Santa (Vice President, The Philanthropy Roundtable) as they discussed the NCRP report, ”Criteria for Philanthropy at Its Best.” The report calls upon organized philanthropy to think harder about how it can deliver greater social benefit and sets out specific criteria as benchmarks, encouraging the field to identify what distinguishes an exemplary grantmaker from an underperforming one. A primary challenge is figuring out how to measure success while safeguarding the philanthropic sector’s independence, diversity and flexibility.
