Health care reform may be expensive – but so is the status quo.   The Urban Institute just released a state-by-state report, funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  Without reform of the health care system, the best-case scenario is that Pennsylvania’s Medicaid programs for low-income and disabled populations will see cost increases of 52 percent over the next decade; the worst case scenario is nearly double that (101 percent).  The study also projects that, absent reform, the number of uninsured Pennsylvanians could climb from 1.3 million to 1.7 million people.  View the report and a Tribune Review article.
